Who's behind Jesus, Lent and Me?
Hello! I'm Lucy, a parent just like you. My vicar husband Al and I live in York, England, with our four kids aged 10-15.
Discipling our children has been the greatest privilege of parenting - but also the biggest challenge. Often, it has been hard to find resources which give our children not only a great grounding in the Bible, but the skills to unlock it themselves for the rest of their lives. And when we have found a resource to do this, it has required more time, effort and energy than we have had available.
I have been writing devotional resources for children since 2022 to try and combine depth of thought with shortness of commentary. I don't believe we have to find a spare hour - or even half hour - in our days in order to get real riches from Scripture. Even in a few minutes, we can connect deeply with the Jesus of the Bible.
Jesus, Lent and Me has been written from my experience as a parent, teacher and Christian parenting blogger. I hope it serves your family well!
How does Jesus, Lent and Me work?
Each Monday to Saturday through Lent, there's a very short Bible passage (often just a couple of verses), followed by a short, engaging explanation of the passage, a question to help apply it, and a 'chat to God' prompt.
Sundays are a day off - to catch up or simply to enjoy input from church instead!
The short readings are taken from Luke's gospel.
Jesus, Lent and Me is written in easy-to-understand language which makes sense to 8-11s.
It offers fun facts and modern-day scenarios that help your child relate the Bible to their lives.
It will help your child know more about Jesus, but also know Jesus more.
Best of all - it's QUICK (around 5min a day), making it easy to fit into a child's busy daily schedule.

How much time is this Devo going to take?
I reckon around 5 minutes a day (but more if your kid wants to connect with God for longer!).
My kid doesn't usually read the Bible - will they cope with this?
Absolutely! Each day's Bible reading is really short, and so is the commentary that comes with it. It doesn't assume a prior knowledge of the Bible, but will also engage children who know the Bible well from Sunday school and any previous discipleship input in the home.
Can I make multiple copies for my church kids group?
The price has been set deliberately low to ensure easy accessibility and affordability for regular families. If people start to print these resources in huge quantities then, as their creator, I lose out financially. I'm not trying to make millions, but this is my livelihood.
By all means photocopy as many as you need for the number of kids you have in your household - large families are very welcome to copy as many resources as they need!
